Obituary for Mary Newa Dateline: Wood River Mary Newa, 86, passed away at 12:35 am on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Fox Grove Supportive Living Community in Wood River. She was born on November 14, 1931 in Bethalto, IL the daughter of Harley and Ethel Ann (Kohl) Bridges. Mary married Edward John Newa Jr. in April 1958 in Carlinville.

He preceded her in death on August 28, 2003. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Helen Ann Peterson of IL, Julia (Dean) Duckels of Cottage Hills, Joseph (Lynn) Newa of Little Rock, AR, and Edward Aaron Newa of Forrest City, AR; one brother, Alvin (Pat) Bridges of AZ; one sister, Alice of AZ; three grandchildren, Aaron, David and Justin.

In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by three sons, John Newa, Harley Tyler Newa, and Edward John Newa III; two sisters, Francis and Beatrice; a step-sister and step-brother, Opal and Orville. Visitation will be held from 10 am until 12 noon on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Burial will follow at Mascoutah City Cemetery.
