CLOWER, James Robert “Bob” Sr.- age 91 of Lebanon passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by parents, Harvey and Elsie Clower and wife, Betty Clower. He is survived by children, Mike (Linda) Clower, Kris (Fulton) Johns, Tena Sherman, and James Robert Clower Jr. “Jeff”; grandchildren, Jennifer (Roger) Gentry, Teri Jo (Steve) Hammock, Linlee (Brandon) Allen, Tyler Skelton, Jordan (Jason) Scott, Elijah Gunter, and India Clower; and great-grandchildren, Turner, Paden, Matthew, and Morgan Gentry, Aydan and Hadlee Skelton, Ava McClain, Harper and Sammy Allen, Hannah Haaser, and Braden Hammock, Mr. Clower graduated from Roane Co. High School where he played football and basketball.

Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving on active duty as Seaman Second Class. He was awarded a WWll Victory Medal for serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He received his bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Tech and his master’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University.

Mr. Clower and his wife owned and operated the Cedar Drive-In Theater. He was known as a “jack of all trades” as he wore many hats throughout his adult life. To name a few, he was a Lebanon High School assistant principal and teacher, Tennessee State Trooper, ladies clothes salesman, security guard at TVA Nuclear Plant, car salesman, commercial fisherman and investor in rental properties.

He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. His hobbies include a love for fishing, hunting, golf, antique car collecting, dancing and raising bird dogs. He was also a member of the Sportsman Club, AACA, and The Gideons International.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 2 p.m.- 6 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with funeral services to follow at 6 p.m. Military honors will follow the service at the Veterans Memorial Park. Interment will be on Friday, May 31, 2019 in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, TN at 2 p.m. Pallbearers will be Glenn Edwards, Jim Pritchards, Ken Davis, Randall Clemmons, Steve Brown, and Randall Keith. Honorary pallbearers will be Mayor Bernie Ash, Doyle Trusty, Joe Patton, Nan Ashley, Pam Bailey, Pauline Smith, Ralph Puckett, Bobby Johnson, Larry Squires, T.A. Bryan, members of The Gideons International, Antique Auto Club of America, Sportsman Club, and TVA retirees.

The family would like to thank all caregivers through the years for the love and care of their father. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to The Gideons International. PARTLOW FUNERAL CHAPEL is in care of arrangements.
