James “Sonny” Emmett Bannerman August 02, 1926 – January 15, 2019 Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card James “Sonny” Emmett Bannerman Jr, 92, passed away on January 15, 2019 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born on August 2, 1926 in San Angelo, Texas to James Emmett Bannerman Sr and Ruby Dee Wood Bannerman. Emmett served in the Navy during WWII and served in the NM National Guard for 26 years retiring at the rank of Command Sergeant Major.

He worked at HAFB and retired after 27 years. Emmett was a Charter Member of Grace United Methodist Church. Survivors include his daughters, Sherill M Bodwell and husband Roger of La Luz, NM and Keron D Walker and husband John of Mabank, TX; son, Kenneth Bannerman and wife Mary Beth of New Caney, TX; six grandchildren, Charles Bodwell and wife Billee, Jennifer Bodwell Folken and husband Brany, Christopher Bannerman and wife Laura, Cammie Bannerman Palmer and husband Brandon, Brandi Walker, Johnny Walker Jr; and numerous great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen M Crockett Bannerman. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel, 2301 First Street in Alamogordo, NM. The funeral service for Emmett will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Billy Tucker officiating.

A private family graveside service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Grace United Methodist Church or the Aristocrat Assisted Living Center. The Bannerman family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
