Obituary for James W. “Big Jim” King Sr. James Warren “Big Jim” King, Sr., of Dayton, Ohio, passed away suddenly Tuesday night June 19, 2018. Born September 18, 1941 in Dayton, OH, he was a son of the late Randy and Elnora Coldiron. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his youngest son David; sister Clara Hickman, and brother Lewis “Knuckle” Coldiron.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Wanda (Smith Abshire) King; sons James King, Jr., Brian King and wife Nancy; daughter in law Deanna King; granddaughters Moryah Linden and husband Jamie, Maryanne Spears and husband Dalton, Christine King, Sarah King, and Julia King; two great- grandchildren Alaina and Owen Spears; siblings John King, Dora “Teen” Fudge, and Randy “Dink” Coldiron; a s well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jim retired in 1989 from the Inland Division of General Motors, having worked at both the Dayton and Vandalia plants. He enjoyed visiting with friends, going to turkey shoots, and plowing gardens with his tractor.

On any given day you could find Jim sitting on the front porch with his dog buddy, each in their favorite chairs. Jim was a great man and friend willing to help anyone. He had a love of the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Friends may call on the family from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Saturday June 23, 2018 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens – 3377 US Rt. 35 – West Alexandria. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Trent Smith presiding.

The family invites all to stay after the service for a time of sharing memories, fellowship, family, friends and food in the funeral home’s Community Center.
