James William Betz, September 26, 1952 — April 19, 2019

James William Betz, 66, passed away in his home on April 19, 2019. James was known to family and friends as Bill, and known in his professional life as Jim. Bill was a loving father, family member, and friend, and leaves behind many people that love him: His children: son James (wife Kristi) and daughter Jennifer (husband Jeremy Wright) and four grandkids that he cherished; Amanda, Madeline, Maddox, and Elliana.

He is also survived by his parents Bob and Dolores Betz, sister Diana Betz, and 2 nieces and 3 nephews. Bill also leaves behind his beloved cat Jack. Bill was born in Albuquerque, NM, on September 26, 1952.

Bill impacted many people in each of the places that he lived: California (Fresno, Riverside, Moreno Valley, and Colton), Utah (Ogden and Farmington), New Mexico (Albuquerque, El Paso), and Missouri (Kansas City). Bill graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, and later completed his Masters Degree in Business Administration. Bill was an electrical engineer by trade, and enjoyed creating and fixing things.

Known as Jim professionally, he was very proud of his career, as Director of Engineering and later Vice President at Bourns, as well as various other positions held at Clarostat, University of Utah, Invensys, and Macro Air. Bill would want to be remembered for all the things he loved: God, family, and his cat. He would also want to be remembered for all the things he enjoyed: being a jack of all trades, tinkering, reading, fishing, archery, helping others, and actively participating in Celebrate Recovery.

His family will be hosting a Celebration of his Life at one of the places he enjoyed most consistently throughout his lifetime: The Nelson Family Lakehouse. The Celebration will be an Open House on Saturday May 11th, 1-4 pm. For address, please privately message Jennifer Betz.
