OBITUARY Jane Memmer Gilliam February 24, 1929 – September 6, 2018 Jane Memmer Gilliam, 89, joined her heavenly family on Thursday, September 6, 2018. She was born in Lafayette, Indiana and resided in Williamsburg for the past 68 years. Jane worked at the William and Mary bookstore for many years as the textbook manager.

She and her husband were members of the Model-A club and enjoyed many trips and events with them. She was a longtime member of Saint Bede Catholic Church. Jane was the matriarch of her family and was known as their beloved “Rose”.

She always spoke kindly of others and it was impossible not to love her. She loved spending time with her family and cherishing the moment. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Richard W. Gilliam and her beloved son, Randy Gilliam.

She is survived by her son, Dean (Millie), her daughter-in-law, Cindy, and her four grandchildren, Ryan (Colleen), Angie, Tara, and Erin. The family will receive friends from 6:00p.m.to 8:00p.m.on Monday, September 10 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd. , Williamsburg, VA.

A funeral Mass will be held at The National Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham (Old St. Bede), 520 Richmond Rd. , Williamsburg, VA on Tuesday, September 11 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove, 809 S. Henry St., Williamsburg, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
