Janet Watts Martin October 21, 1920 – January 08, 2019 Share this obituary Local Florists Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card MARTIN, Janet Watts, 98, passed away on January 8, 2019, at her Chestnut Grove residence in Henrico, Va. Born at Tye River (Nelson County), Va. , on October 21, 1920, she was the eldest daughter of the late Ed Louis and Alma Dawson Watts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Martin; her eldest daughter, Elva Ancarrow; and son-in-law, Robert Sowers; three sisters, Mary North, Evelyn James and Frances Shareck; and two brothers, Ed Louis Watts Jr. and Joseph Watts. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Linda Sowers of Henrico, Va. ; four grandchildren, Kenneth Ancarrow, Charles Sowers (Tammy), LaDonna Smith (Brian) and Martin Sowers (Laura); nine great-grandchildren, Kemper, Kailey and Kathryn Ancarrow, Sydney Sowers and Alyssa Pryor, Zachary and Charles Smith, Lee and Stella Sowers; and one great-great-grandson, Mason Smith; one sister, Anna Johnson of Duck, N.C.; a brother, Russell Watts of Richmond, Va.

; a former son-in-law, Leon Ancarrow of Nellysford, Va. ; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Janet was a 1939 graduate of Lovingston (Virginia) High School and enjoyed a 30-plus-year career in accounting at Royal Globe Insurance Company.

All are welcome to attend a memorial service celebrating Janet’s life at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, at Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad Street, Glen Allen, Va. 23060. A memorial contribution to Adial Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1090 Adial Road, Faber, Va.
