OBITUARY Dowell Trice Wood December 3, 1932 – January 6, 2019 Wood, Dowell Trice, 86, went to be with his Heavenly Father on January 6, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ella Carpenter Wood, and their three children, Kimberley and her husband Jeffery Amick of Louisa, VA, Dowell Wood Jr. (Chip), and his wife Lisa of Chesapeake, VA, and Sidney Allan Wood (Sid), and his wife Sonya of Chesterfield VA. Also nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Born in Norfolk VA, his family moved to Rock Castle in Goochland County, VA where he grew up and went to school, then joining the US Army, serving in Korea. After his time in the service, he went back to school, ultimately graduating from Richmond Professional Institute with a degree in Applied Science. He spent most of his working career at American Tobacco Company/American Brands in Hopewell, VA while he and Ella raised their family living in the Bon Air area of Richmond.

They moved back to Goochland for their retirement years, living in Manikin Farms, and later Louisa County. Services are being handled by Woody Funeral Home, 1771 North Parham Road, Richmond, VA. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 10, 5:00pm – 8:00pm.

Funeral services will be at the Funeral Home on Friday January 11th, at 12:00 noon with burial at Smyrna Baptist Church in Rock Castle following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dover Baptist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
