Obituary for Janette Sportel SPORTEL, JANETTE Of Kalamazoo Janette Sportel, age 90, went home to be with her Lord on May 11, 2018. Janette was born December 16, 1927 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of John and Tina (Weessies) Hamminga. On April 3, 1964 she was united in marriage to Arthur Sportel.

Janette was a member of Grace Christian Reformed Church. She volunteered with The Back to God Hour, Park Village Pines and the Kalamazoo Christian High School. Surviving are her husband of 54 years Arthur Sportel and several other special family and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, May 17th at Grace Christian Reformed Church (1724 Whites Rd. ) with Pastor Greg Timmer officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time.

A private burial will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Kalamazoo Christian School Association.
