Janie’s Obituary Obituary Janie Chavez, 76 Janie Casias Chavez, 76, longtime resident of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019 at her home. Janie was born February 24, 1943 to Rafael and Concepcion Casias in Pleasonton, Texas. She married Ernest M. Chavez on March 29, 1959.

From that union, they raised 10 children. Joann, Ernie Jr., Alfred, Emilio, Lupe, Lisa, Robbie, Bobbie, Janie and Anna. Janie worked at Bingham Memorial Hospital for 20 years as a Nutritional Supervisor.

She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. Janie’s joys in life were her family and playing Bingo with her friends in Fort Hall. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Janie is survived by her children, Ernest (Alayne) Chavez, Alfred (Marlena) Chavez, Emilio (Lori) Chavez, Lupe (Carlos Lopez) Wadsworth, Lisa (Matt) Barnard, Robbie (Becky) Chavez, Bobbie (Elisa) Chavez, Janie Chavez, Anna Chavez, Daniel Ernest Chavez, Emilio Rey Chavez, and Sara Ternus, 35 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Chavez, and daughter Joann Chapman. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Hawker Funeral Home.
