Obituary for Jay Yovino James Yovino, 81 passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Staten Island University Hospital South. . Born Thursday, January 21, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York.

he was the loving son of James A. Yovino Sr. and Elizabeth (Dicinni) Yovino Jay as everyone knew him, was a member of the Staten Island Train Club and loved to build model trains. A former member of the Pittsburgh Pirates Minor League Farm Teams, Jay was an avid sports fan who was a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. .

He loved to sing and had an excellent voice. Jay was always quick with a joke and is remembered by all as the ”Jokester”. Loretta, his wife, can remember Jay greeting people on thier way into church one evening, ( The church had lost power and was without lights) and Jay would tell everyone ”Welcome to Midnight Mass”.

Jay was the beloved husband of Loretta (McCance) Yovino for 59 years. Loving father of Jay Yovino and Jennifer Langstang. Adored father in law of Toni Ann & Calvin.

Dear brother of Pat Bloukos and Judy Caniglio. Cherished grandfather of Jay, Christina, Anthony, Frankie, Joseph, James and John and his great grand daughter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at St. Patrick’s Church located at 53 St. Patrick’s Place Staten Island, New York 10306.

Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
