Jean Audrey Matthews, 76, of Great Falls, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 after a battle with cancer. Per her final wishes, no services will be held. Cremation has been entrusted to Croxford Funeral Home.

Jean was born on August 25, 1941 in Shelby, MT to parents Neil and Dorothy Matthews. She stayed in Montana where she attended school and later met Edward Hurd. They married on July 20, 1957 in Great Falls and later divorced in March of 1972.

Jean again married in November of 1972 to Harold Davenport but got divorced in January of 1979. Jean lead a full active lifestyle. She loved bowling and did so frequently at Little Lanes and at the Pin & Cue.

She was the Secretary of the Friday night league at Pin & Cue for several years. She also enjoyed the outdoors and loved going camping with family and friends. By in large, her proudest achievement was being the owner of Starlit Motel, in Great Falls.

During her ownership she was able to have helped numerous people, including family, friends, and strangers. She belonged to the Montana Hotel/Motel Association until her health problems prevented her from continuing. Jean is survived by her daughters, Teresa Vandemark of Mohall, ND, Janiel Brummett of Farr West, UT; sons, Jeffery Hurd of Great Falls, MT, Steven Hurd of Great Falls, MT, Michael Davenport of Missoula, MT, Darren Davenport of Great Falls, MT; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in passing by her parents; her daughter, Denise Curtis, and by her brother, Neil Richard Matthews.
