Jean’s Obituary Jean Canaday, 86, of Moweaqua, died March 7, 2019. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2019, with no visitation, in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua. Burial will be in Macon Township Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Lincoln Canaday for his Muscular Dystrophy care. Jean was born July 2, 1932 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Charles Artie and Anna Marie (Letner) Carter. She married Charles Robert Canaday September 1, 1950 in Blue Mound, IL.

He preceded her in death February 6, 2008. Jean was a member of First Christian Church of Moweaqua and a former secretary for General Electric and Blue Mound Schools. Mom always had a project or two going, whether it be sewing, embroidering, crocheting, knitting or quilting.

She was excellent in all that she did, if it was not perfect, it was redone until it was. She especially enjoyed quilting and was instrumental in starting quilting clubs in Jackson, TN and Moweaqua. Mom made and gave away quilts for Christmas, birthdays, weddings, new baby and just because.

In the 40 plus years she quilted, she made close to 100 quilts. Surviving are her children: Susan Vermilyea of Moweaqua, IL and Steven (Cindy) Canaday of Blue Mound, IL; grandchildren: Justin Vermilyea, Matthew (Bethany) Canaday, Katie Canaday and David Canaday; great-grandchildren: Lincoln, Auggie, Grant and Cooper and brothers: Ronald Carter of East Peoria, IL and Mark Carter of Blue Mound, IL. Preceding her in death are her husband, parents and son, Jeffrey Canaday.
