Obituary for Jean Claire Purslow Jean Claire (Villeneuve) Purslow passed away peacefully, with her children at her side, at her home at 8 Wall Street, Unit 215 in Clifton Park, New York at 2:30 pm on April 16, 2018. She was 83 years old. Jean was born on February 25, 1935 in Pawtucket, RI.
She was the daughter of Albert and Marriette Villeneuve of El Paso, TX and finally Mascotte, FL. She was a talented cook. She was well known for her candy making skills; which is ironic as she suffered from Type 1 Diabetes from the age of 50.
Jean was an enthusiastic seamstress, a welcoming hostess, and a charitable woman. Her passion and pursued dream was writing children’s short stories and poems. Her grandchildren were main characters in many of her writings.
Those pieces that did and did not get published brought tremendous joy to those who were stars in Nana’s stories. Jean, through perseverance and talent, saw three of her pieces published. Jean and her x husband Gordon, lived for over 20 years in Broomfield, Colorado where they raised their three children: Mark Purslow, Scott Purslow, and Kimberly Purslow.
Jean had a successful career in Real Estate in Colorado. She spent many of her early years as a licensed cosmetologist prior to her move to Broomfield. Jean put this experience to use as an employee of a company in Northglenn, Colorado that created, and styled wigs for clients such as cancer patients.
Jean and Gordon then moved to Mascotte, Florida where Jean helped design and oversaw the building of a beautiful lake side home. Later they moved to Summerfield, Florida, where again she helped design and oversaw the building of their home in the Spruce Creek Golf & Country Club Community. Jean continued to live in the home in Summerfield after she and Gordon divorced.
She enjoyed her independence, made many life-long friends, became well known for her generosity, kindness, and uplifting companionship. She was an active member and officer of the Community Senior Singles Club, and enjoyed quiet evenings or exploring Thrift Stores with her close friends. Jean is survived by her son Mark and his Wife Patti (Reddish) Purslow currently residing in Aurora, Colorado; her son Scott and his wife Kim (Nunn) Purslow currently residing in Orlando, Florida; her daughter Kimberly and her husband Tom McGuire currently residing in Clifton Park, New York.
She enjoyed and is survived by the children of Mark and Patti: Jake Purslow and his wife Ashley(Zanini) Purslow, and their new daughter Savanah Claire Purslow; Rachel (Purslow) and her husband Alan Thompson, and their son Justin James Thompson; the children of Scott and Kim: Melissa and David Purslow; and the sons of Kimberly and Tom: Rory and Aidan McGuire. Jean requested that her ashes be given to her son, Scott so that his family could honor her memory in Florida, where she enjoyed living for over 20 years. The other half of her ashes were sent to her son Mark, so his family could honor her memory in Colorado where she raised her children.
Should her memory be honored by friends and family in a financial or volunteer based way, Jean offers the consideration of assisting the American Diabetes Association in their pursuit of cures and care of those like her, her son Mark, and her father Albert, who suffer from Diabetes.
