OBITUARY Jean Shelton July 22, 1938 – December 29, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Jean Shelton, 80, of Greeneville, went to her Heavenly reward Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Laughlin Memorial Hospital. Jean was a mother and LPN. She was a member of Towering Oaks Baptist Church and attended as long as her health permitted.

Jean was a warrior for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was responsible for starting and running Camp Greene for the Church of God organization out of Anderson, Indiana. She earned the affectionate name of “Mama Jean” by all the campers who attended.

Through her efforts and spiritual guidance many young people from Greene County, the Tri-Cities, Cocke County and even other states accepted Christ as their Savior. She touched the lives of many through her compassion, understanding, and support she gave. To all who needed an ear to hear and an understanding heart she never turned anyone away.

“Mama Jean” was well liked and as long as her health permitted, interacted with all the people at Life Care Center of Greeneville including residents, workers, nurses and doctors. Survivors include three sons: Mark D. Shelton and wife, Diane, Clay R. Shelton, Aaron W. Shelton and wife, Joy, and Jordan Clark, who was loved as a son and wife, Keely; grandchildren: Timothy Shelton and wife, Marissa, Ashley Shelton, Jason Shelton and wife, Melody, Brodie Shelton and Morgan Shelton; two great grandchildren: Amara Blake Shelton and Lilly Mae Shelton; one sister: Mollie J. Pruitt; two brothers: Allen Pruitt and Don Pruitt; sister-in-law: Kitten Pruitt; and several nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late James and Velva Pruitt and was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew D. Shelton; an infant son, Jason Shelton; a brother, Rex Pruitt; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Pruitt and Peggy Pruitt.

The family will receive friends 2- 4 and 6-8 pm Monday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, January 2, 2019, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dennis Shumate officiating.

Interment will follow at River Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Shelton, Brodie Shelton, James McAfee, Richard Humphreys, Mark A. Shelton and Jordan Clark.
