OBITUARY Jeanette Melton September 16, 1933 – July 18, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Jeanette Melton Carey, 84, of Ashland, Va, passed away on July 18th, 2018. She was born in Richmond, Va. on Sept.

16. 1933 and graduated from Highland Springs High School in 1951. She is preceded in death by her parents Parker L. Melton and Dorothy Bailiff Melton and her brothers Ronald Melton and Parker Melton, Jr

She is survived by her children Faith Dickerson (Jennifer), Terry Fortune and Jerry Fortune; and grandchildren Patrick Fortune and Alyssa and Camryn Dickerson. Jeanette had a love for animals especially birds and cats. She loved the Lord and read scripture daily.

She had a gregarious laugh and always greeted others with a hug and a “Hi Dawlin’”. She was a secretary for a furniture store in her young adult years and spent most of her time as a stay at home mom. She volunteered at a local nursing home reading to the residents and making crafts for others.

She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She received the most joy from spending time with her friends and family. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-8 pm at Woody Funeral Home, Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Rd.

, Mechanicsville, Va. , 23116. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 am at Grace Baptist Church, 4200 Dover Rd.

Richmond, Va. , 23221 with reception to follow.
