Obituary for Jeanne E. Monroe Saratoga Springs, NY Jeanne E. Monroe of Ludlow St. went to be with the Lord and join her husband of 53 years, Gene, and her son, Kevin, on July 19. She was 81. Born on October 9, 1936, in Lincoln, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Florence (Tetor) Wimet.

Jeanne was a devout servant to her community and had a huge heart for giving. She volunteered for over 30 years where she was the leader of the Cloverleaf 4H Club. Jeanne and her husband also dedicated much of their time to Saratoga Pop Warner football when the program began in the 1960’s.

Jeanne and her husband Gene also served as Boy Scout Pack 18 Leaders. Additionally, Jeanne loved to be outside and was an avid gardener where she took pride in maintaining a beautiful garden around her home. She was also a dedicated parishioner at the St. Clements Roman Catholic Church.

When Jeanne wasn’t serving her community or spending time with her family, she could be found watching and rooting for the Yankees. She followed the Yankees very closely and knew just about everything about them, including keeping a log of every game, complete with player statistics. Jeanne was known as a hard and dedicated worker; she loved her work as an Attendance Clerk for the Dorothy Nolan Elementary School, in Saratoga Springs for over 35 years.

Jeanne looked forward to her yearly trips to Long Beach Island, NJ with her husband and entire family. Jeanne and her family absolutely loved every minute of it. Jeanne is predeceased by her husband, Gene Monroe; her son, Kevin A. Monroe; and sister, Carole Hawthorne.

Survivors include her loving family: three sons, Harry C. Monroe (June) of Seattle, Washington; Darren L. Monroe (Kris) of Saratoga Springs, NY; and Gene W. Monroe of Williston, North Dakota. Her five grandchildren, Nicole Owen (Matthew), Sean (Alyssa), Daniel, Nicolas and Kara Farmer (Devin). Two brothers, James Wimet (Sandra) and George Wimet (Linda), and sister, Mary Dunham Walters (Deryll).

The prayer of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, July 24, at 11am at the Tunison Funeral Home 105 Lake Ave. Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Burial will follow at Greenridge Cemetery in Saratoga Springs.
