Jeanne M. Gordy, 87, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully late Sunday afternoon, April 22, 2018 at Lakewood Senior Living in Smiths Station, AL A celebration of life memorial service will be held 1:00 pm EDT on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Lakewood Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Keown officiating. A private interment will follow later that afternoon at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm EDT on Thursday at the church prior to the memorial service. Mrs. Gordy was born December 15, 1930 in Phenix City, AL to the late Dewitt Fussell and Kathleen Coulter Fussell. She retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Columbus, GA with many years of dedicated service.

She enjoyed drawing, art, and reading, but her greatest joy was family, and spending quality time with all her grandchildren. She loved serving as a member of the Amen Choir, and she was a faithful member of Lakewood Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A. N. Gordy, one son, Glenn Gordy, an infant sister, Gloria Ann, and a granddaughter, Amy Leigh Gordy.

She is survived by her children, Steve Gordy and wife Sandra, Susan Humble and husband Larry, Jeff Gordy and wife Kathy, Carol Breault, and Joy Boyd and husband Daniel, daughter-in-law, Janet Gordy, one brother, Fred Fussell and wife Cathy, sister-in-law, Ann Parnell, (18) grandchildren, (21) great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other loving family members, her brothers and sisters from the Amen Choir, her church family, and many caring friends. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to Lakewood Baptist Church Amen Choir, or Kindred Hospice.
