nampafuneralhome.com. Jerry was born on September 1, 1929 in Chehalis, Washington to Edmund and Leona Garlock. Jerry and his older sister Lorraine lived for a short time in Chehalis before moving to Boise where they would grow up and attend school.

After his sophomore year of high school Jerry approached his parents about allowing him to get a job, which they allowed with reluctance, but began his career in road construction. Jerry enjoyed working for the Boise Paving and the Central Paving Companies for most of his professional career driving the big earth moving machines, rough cutting roads and freeways throughout Idaho. He later worked for the Morrison-Knudson Company with one of the biggest projects being the US 95 highway grade between White Bird and Grangeville here in Idaho.

Jerry was blessed with 5 children (Tom, Jud, Matt, Susan & Pete) by his first marriage and in 1964 Jerry would meet and later marry Shirley (Howard) Garlock and would become the father of 3 step-children (Scott, Annette & Randy). Jerry was a strong but soft-spoken man that truly loved living in Idaho. He was an ardent supporter of our nation’s military as exhibited by his volunteering to support our National Guard as a young man along with his lifelong financial support of the USO.

He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and weekend vacations into the hills of Idaho. When the children were younger, the 4th of July tradition was to spend the weekend in the small town of Atlanta, Idaho to fish, swim and watch the local fire works. Jerry is survived by his 2 sons: Tom and Debbie Garlock, Boise, Idaho and Jud and Susan Garlock, Eugene, Oregon; 2 daughters: Susan Monger of Grants Pass, Oregon and Priscilla Slover, Salem, Oregon.

He is also survived by his two step sons: Scott and Sandra Spraque, of Oregon and Randy and Laurie Haverfield, Nampa, Idaho, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Edmund & Leona, wife Shirley Garlock, son Matthew Garlock and step-daughter Annette Dinnis.
