Obituary for Jerry McFarland (Jackson ) Jerry Ann Jackson McFarland, 84 With her family at her bedside, “Grandma” left her pain and struggles to spend eternity making caramels, piecing together quilts and working sudoku puzzles, on October 20, 2018. She was born on November 6, 1933, to the late Jerry and Dorothy Jackson. She was born in Odin, Illinois and relocated to Paris, Kentucky, where she graduated from Paris High School.
Paris is also where she met and married her husband of more than 66 years, James “Jimmy” McFarland. Jerry Ann and Jimmy settled in North Middletown where they raised their four children: Gary (Martha) McFarland currently residing in Paris, Greg (Kathy) McFarland, Duluth, Georgia, Jeff (Sarah) McFarland, North Middletown, and Julie McFarland, North Middletown. Her legacy is also continued through her six grandchildren: Kayla (Ryan) Coburn, Kirsten (Zach) Lombardo, Wes (Jamie) McFarland, Hunter (Ashley) McFarland, Megan McFarland and Anna Kate McFarland.
There is no doubt that Grandma loved and cherished each, and every one of her children and grandchildren, but nothing compared to the adoration she had for her six great-grandchildren: Weston McFarland, Katy Coburn, Owen McFarland, Colt McFarland, Miller McFarland and Kennedy Lombardo. She is also survived by a brother, Phillip Jackson of Paris and three sisters, Janice Boyd of Lexington, Ky. , Sharon Wagoner of Cincinnati, Oh.
, and Brenda Somers of Lexington, Ky. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ronald Jackson, Jimmy Jackson and Keith Jackson. She was also preceded in death by twin grandsons, Clay and Clayton McFarland.
Visitation will be from 5pm until 8pm, Wednesday, October 24th, at the North Middletown Christian Church, in North Middletown, Kentucky. Grandma’s Celebration of Life service will be Thursday, October 25th at 11am at the North Middletown Christian Church. Pallbearers will be: Kayla Coburn, Kirsten Lombardo, Wes McFarland, Hunter McFarland, Megan McFarland, Anna Kate McFarland, Ryan Coburn, Zach Lombardo, William Shipplett and Bill Henson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: members of the North Middletown Christian Church, Circle 5 and members of the Nifty Needles Quilt Guild. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the North Middletown Christian Church, Property Maintenance and Repair Fund.
