Jerry Lee Winger, 77 HARTFORD CITY – Jerry Lee Winger, 77, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at 11:14 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Hartford City on January 22, 1941 to Alva Carl Winger and Doris Wilma (Swindell) Winger. Both his parents preceded him in death.

Jerry graduated from Hartford City High School in 1959. He retired in 1996 from Madison-Grant Jr. High School where he taught Physical Education and Health for 30 years.

He also formerly owned and operated Winger Farm Service for 35 years in Blackford County and retired in 2007. Jerry married Mary Jo (Nottingham) on October 28, 1966 at Trinity United Methodist Church by Rev. Jerry Crouse.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Jerry will be sadly missed by his wife, Mary Jo Winger of Hartford City; son, Dale (wife, Jen) Winger of Hartford City; daughter, Dawn R. Winger of Hartford City; grandchildren, Cody Lee Forrester, Austin Lee Forrester, Sophie Katherine Winger, Scott Karl Winger, Randle Nottingham Winger, Paul Vincent “Vince” Oxley and his father, Chad Oxley; sister, Nancy Jane (husband, Paul) Castelo of Fredericksburg, VA; in-laws, Merrill and Reda Belle Nottingham and Max and Susie Nottingham. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2019 at Grace United Methodist Church, 312 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Rev.

Ron Branson officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Muncie. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St. Hartford City and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2019 at the church.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave. , New York, NY 10001 and Grace United Methodist Church, 312 W.
