Jessie Allen’s Obituary Jessie “Allen” Smitherman, 74 of Vinemont, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at his home. Allen was born on September 20, 1944 in Bessemer, Alabama. He proudly served his country for four years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

Allen was a simple man, who enjoyed gambling and spending time with his family, especially the grandkids. He was known by most people as “Pop”. A private memorial service will be held at a later time.

Allen is survived by his sons, Roger Smitherman and his wife Cortney, and Gary Cruice Crowell; daughters, Robin Susanne Smitherman, Regina Graves and her husband Blake, and Samantha Banks and her husband Grant; brother, Jerry Smitherman and his wife Edith; sisters, Linda Oneal and Jean Miller and her husband Steve Miller; and ex-wife and caregiver, Rhonda Peterson. He was “Paw Paw” to 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Louise Smitherman; and sisters, Magdalene Smitherman and Gwen Fortenberry.
