Robert W. “Jessie” James, 80, of Keithsburg, Illinois died Monday, April 16, 2018 at Aledo Rehab and Health Care. Memorial services will be held 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 23rd at First Christian Church, Keithsburg. Following the service, all are invited for a time of food and shared memories in the church fellowship hall.

Private burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be left for Keithsburg Fire Department. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is handling arrangements.

Robert “Jessie” was born June 14, 1937 in New Boston, Illinois the son of Simon and Katherine James. On Dec. 9, 1962, he married Marilyn Truitt in New Boston.

Jessie worked at the Keithsburg Grain Elevator for many years. He also worked for the City of Keithsburg. Jessie was a dedicated member of the Keithsburg Fire Department, having served with the department for 51 years.

In his free-time he enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife: Marilyn James of Keithsburg; son: Don (Louise) Truitt of Keithsburg; grandchildren: Daphne Truitt and Cody James; great grandchildren: Anna-Mae and Jessie James; siblings: Lydia Salmon of Lakeland, FL, Ronald Johnson of Aledo and Bud Johnson of Lakeland, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Seena James in 2016 and sister: Barb Johnson.
