Peggie J. Puckett, 79, of New Boston, Illinois died Friday, July 20, 2018 at Aledo Rehab and Health Care. Visitation is Wednesday, July 25th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at New Boston United Methodist Church. Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 26th at New Boston Cemetery with Pastor Tom Wright officiating.

Honorary Pallbearers are Dusty Puckett, Aaron Kernan, Jason Schell, Montie Schell and Greg LeHew. Memorials may be left for New Boston Historical Society and Museum. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family.

Peggie Jean was born September 7, 1938 in Mercer Township the daughter of Bill and Arlene Stineman LeHew. The 1956 graduate of New Boston High School went on to graduate from AIC Business School. She married Jack Puckett on March 3, 1961 in Aledo.

Peggie worked for the City of New Boston from 1973 – 1980, with 5 of those years as City Clerk. She was instrumental in founding the New Boston Museum, serving as Director of the museum until her health failed. Softball was an important part of her life… She played for both the New Boston Sandburs and New Boston Sluggers, then coached New Boston girls softball for 25 years.

Peggie enjoyed genealogy, bowling and gambling. She loved the river, along with fishing and camping. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband: Jack Puckett, New Boston; sons: Gene (Heather) Puckett and Rick Puckett, all of New Boston; daughter: Monica (Dave) Ruddy, Bettendorf; step-son: Montie (Teresa) Schell, New Boston; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and sister: Vicki (Tad) Pomeroy, New Boston.
