Obituary for Jessie Ray Dennis Jessie Ray Dennis, 89, of Ayden, passed away on November 20, 2018. He was born on April 21, 1929 in Pitt Co., NC to Zackary and Nancy Edwards Dennis. Jessie was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita; his second wife, Evelyn, his parents, a step-daughter, Delores Flynn and several siblings.

At a very young age, Jessie was introduced to hard work when he was removed from school in the fourth grade to help his father farm. He later enlisted in the U.S Army and proudly served 14 months in Germany. He spent most of his career as an Auto Body Mechanic, and owner his own shop for many years.

Jessie was a longtime member of Elm Grove FWB Church and was currently attending Blackjack PFWB Church when he was able to go. He was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed staying in touch with his Army buddies by organizing several reunions for his squadron. Jessie will be missed by many people whom he leaves behind to cherish his memory; one son, Gregory Dennis and wife, Karen; two step-children, Jennis Whitaker and husband, Bobby and Levi Smith and wife, Judy; three grandchildren, Alex Dennis, Eric Dennis and wife, Samantha and Deric Dennis and wife, Brittany; step-grandchildren, Jessica Scheller and husband, Troy and Brittany Ayers and husband, Kevin; three sisters, Joyce Adams, Ruth Mae Miller and Jean Whaley.

Other survivors include two great grandchildren, Hayden and Tristan; six step great grandchildren; two special nieces, Connie Hardee and Frances Mills; a special friend, Dean Cardenas and many other extended family members and friends. The family would like to acknowledge and “Thank” family friend and caregiver, William Bryan for his compassion, his care and all of his help these last several weeks. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm at Farmer Funeral Service.

Interment with Military Honors will follow at Evergreen Memorial Estates in Grifton. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6-8pm at the Funeral Home. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Jessie Ray Dennis please visit our Sympathy Store.
