James E. “Jim” Byczek, 64, of rural Lockridge, IA, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, IA. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant, IA.

A memorial service will be held 6:00 p.m., that same evening, at the Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Larry Menke officiating. In lieu of flowers, gifts of love and friendship may be given to Lockridge Fire Department. On-line condolences may be directed to www.

olsonpowell.com. Born July 22, 1954, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, James Edward was the son of Ivan Dennis and June Elizabeth (Siefken) Byczek.

He was a 1972 graduate of Mt. Pleasant Community High School. On November 29, 1975, he married Marilee Ann Scovern in New London, IA.

A lifelong farmer, Jim liked to fish, hunt, and camp. He didn’t know a stranger and could talk with anyone. Jim especially enjoyed spending time with his wife.

Along with his loving wife, Marilee, of 43 years, Jim is survived by a brother, Robert “Ted” (Katie) Byczek of New London. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, eleven great-nieces and great-nephews, and one great-great-niece. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a step-mother, Velma Byczek.
