Obituary for Jimmie Garringer Jimmie Garringer, 86, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2018 at the Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He is survived my his loving family, after a 20 year battle with cancer. He had a wonderful and productive nine years of life between each of the three episodes of cancer due to medical services and the grace of God.
Jimmie was the seventh child of 10, and was born on February 13, 1932 in Anderson to Isaac Jacob and Mable E. (Manor) Garringer. He attended Edgewood and Anderson High School. He attended Bethel Methodist Church where he met his wife, Betty J. Woods.
He served in the United States Army Reserve from 1950-1955. He retired in 1997 after many successful business ventures. Some included sewing machine and vacuum stores, heating and air conditioning, building/remodeling, and owning/operating of Jim’s Fishing Lake.
Jimmie loved traveling, where he visited 15 different countries and most of the United States. Many of the trips were gifts from the sewing machine and vacuum companies for top sales. He enjoyed camping and motor home travel.
He also loved yard work and landscaping, but most of all he enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and their activities. Jimmie is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty J. (Woods) Garringer; children, Vickie L. (Larry) Mitchell of Muncie, and Robert S. (Barbara) Garringer of Honolulu, HI; grandchildren, Arrick (Stacy) Garringer of Farmland, Audra M. (Benji) Koontz of Gaston, Jacob W. (Macey) Mitchell of Gaston, Jennifer L. (Christian) Lombard of Muncie, and Sarah K. (Dustin) Parker of Gaston; great-grandchildren, Baxter Isaac, Theo Ray, and Rozzie May Garringer of Farmland, Junniper Violet Koontz of Gaston, Izabella Presley, Isaac Jacob, and Lynden Carter of Gaston, Luke Powers and Emery Lynn Lombard of Muncie, and Annabelle Catherine and Harrison George Parker of Gaston. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry Joe (Cindy) Garringer of Dunedin, FL; sister, Lillian Jean Flynn of Anderson; sister in law, Ruth Garringer of Anderson, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Jacob and Mable E. Garringer; brothers, Dick, Jesse, Rex and Junior; sisters, Cleo, Patricia, and Nancy; and great-grandchild, Dillon M. Mitchell. Services will be Friday, May 11, 2018, 11:30 am at Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory, 200 W. 5 Street, Anderson, IN 46013, with Pastor Stan Lountner of Columbus, IN officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to services from 9:30am- 11:30am.
Burial will take place in the Anderson Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2018, 2:00pm at Wheeling Avenue Nazarene Church, 4600 N. Wheeling Avenue, Muncie, IN 47304, with Rev. Clay officiating.
