Jimmie Lovett Moore, Sr. was born on February 11, 1929, to the late Mr. Henry (Doc) and Louella Moore both of Birmingham, AL. He was educated in the Birmingham Public School System attending Thomas Elementary School and Ullman High School. He began his working career in July 1948.

His employment career was interrupted in December of 1950 when he was drafted in the United States Army during the Korean War. After receiving an honorable discharge, he returned home and worked at Hayes International Aircraft (32 years) and was also later jointly employed with Plantation Pattern (12 years) until his retirement. He advanced to management positions at both companies.

He celebrated 65 years of marriage with this loving wife, Mary Frances Moore and to this union they were blessed with 6 children and 3 adopted children. He confessed Christ at an early age at Zion Star Baptist Church. He later united with 16th Street Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Arthur Price, Jr. where he was a faithful member of the Tour Ministry until his health no longer permitted him to serve.

Jimmie had evolved to be a true role model to his immediate family and others. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Henry (Doc) and Louella Moore, and his two brothers, Harrison and Luke Greenlee. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Mary Frances Moore, and their children, Joslyn Stubbs, Jimmie L. (Ruby), Moore, Jr., Roderick D. (Patricia) Moore, Rhonda R. (Leslie) Hall, Kenneth J. (Irene) Moore, Michael A. (Cynthia) Moore, Raquel M. (Roosevelt) Luster, Garner, NC, Ronald G. (D’juna) Moore, Mobile, AL, Corey D. (Ashley) Moore, and Jimone Tate.

Also, 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, his mother-in-law, a sister and brother in-law and others who adopted him as a father/grandfather/uncle, cousins, in-laws and friends. Jimmie L. Moore exchanged his cross for his heavenly crown on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.
