Obituary for Jimmie Miriam Crain Jimmie Miriam Hopkins Crain, cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother entered eternity on June 19, 2018. Jimmie was born on October 30, 1924 in Petty, TX to Thomas Gordon and Estelle Hopkins. She graduated from Honey Grove High School, Drones Business College in Dallas and attended Paris Junior College.

During WW II she worked at Continental Trailways Bus Station in Paris where she met Albert Kermit Crain from Dobson, LA. Crain was stationed at Camp Maxey. They were married in April 1946 and lived in Homer, LA for 11 happy years.

The sudden loss of her husband in 1957 prompted Jimmie’s return to Paris with her two daughters, Judy and Jane. She was a devoted mother. She worked part-time at Paris Typewriter Exchange and later found her calling with Paris Independent School District.

She retired after 20 years as library aide at Thomas Justiss Elementary where she loved helping children discover the world through reading. Jimmie served the children’s department of First Baptist Church for over 30 years teaching in the 4th grade Sunday School department. She loved her home and her life in Paris.

Her spare time was spent enjoying her yard, feeding birds, sewing reading and spending time with her four grandsons. Jimmie is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 3 sisters, 1 brother and son-in-law, John M. Cole. She is survived by daughters Judy and Jim Arthur of Lake Jackson, TX; Jane and Dr. Bob Talcott of Hickory Creek, TX; grandsons Jeff and Rachel Arthur, Jon Arthur, Michael and Vanessa Cole, David Cole and great-grandchildren Owen Thomas and Sadie Estelle Arthur.

The family’s appreciation is expressed to long time friends Sarah Green, Debbie Burks and Paula Ausmus who maintained contact with our mother after her move; and to Judy and Jim Arthur for their selfless love and dedication in overseeing the care of our mother and to the staff at Elmcroft Assisted Living of Lake Jackson for the countless hours of compassionate care and friendship during our Mother’s last eighteen months. Graveside services are scheduled for Monday, June 25, 2018 at 11:00am at Homer Arlington Cemetery, Homer, LA. Rev.
