Jimmy Nelson Hood, 76, of Mahomet died on Monday, May 13, 2019 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. In accordance with family wishes, Mr. Hood will be cremated and friends may greet the family on Friday, May 24 from 4-6 pm at Blair-Owens Funeral Home, 102 E. Dunbar, Mahomet. A memorial service will begin at 6pm at the funeral home.

Jim was born on March 6, 1943 in Champaign; a son of Fred and Lou Hood. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Peggy Crowley Hood. He is survived by his daughters; Pam Wilkinson (David), Laura Baker (Brian), Amy Gilbert (Lucas); grandchildren, Richard Pruitt (Morgan), Riley Pruitt, Dylan Baker and Elena Baker; and 1 great grandchild, Rowan Pruitt.

Jim worked with Cardinal Crane in the 1970s. He then went on to be a Teamster for 26 years with Felmley Dickerson. He enjoyed giving back to his community as a Newcomb Township Trustee for 28 years.

Jim enjoyed the outdoors, playing baseball, fishing on his parent’s pond, hunting and snowmobiling. Jim was know for his smile, ‘James Dean’ looks and nice cowboy hats. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
