OBITUARY Jo Allyn Daniel May 5, 1948 – November 22, 2018 Jo Allyn Gholston Daniel, 70, of Douglasville, Ga. , passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018.

Jo lived a lifetime of kind, unselfish caring for others. She always showed courage and strength, especially at the toughest times. Perhaps her biggest accomplishment in life was raising her four young children with help from family, friends and the entire Douglasville community after her husband Ronny was in a terrible automobile accident.

She showed the same courage and strength again 30 years later as she battled a relentless disease. Her kindness and sweet smile were contagious, and she left the world a better place. If you knew Jo, you loved her.

And she loved you. Jo Allyn Gholston Daniel was born May 5, 1948, in Millen, Ga. , in Jenkins County, to Joe Boyd Gholston and Sybil Edenfield Gholston.

She moved to Atlanta after graduating from Jenkins County High School in 1966 and worked for the Georgia Department of Agriculture for a time before becoming full-time homemaker. She married Ronny Daniel on Sept. 25, 1970, and moved to his hometown of Douglasville, which she called home for the next 48 years.

She was Methodist by faith and was baptized at Millen United Methodist Church as an infant. She adored her family, especially her 12 grandchildren. She also loved animals, taking care of her own fur babies and frequently donating supplies to help animals at the local shelter.

She enjoyed going to the movies with her sisters-in-law, attending concerts with her best friend Linda Bray and cheering on her Georgia Bulldogs. She loved the Southern food she grew up on cooked by Fannie Tarver, her family’s housekeeper and their dear friend. She had the same affinity for the cooking of her beloved late mother-in-law Elva Shell Daniel.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ronny Daniel and parents Joe Boyd Gholston and Sybil Edenfield Gholston. Jo is survived by her children and their spouses: Ron and Nancy Daniel of Douglasville; Chad and Deborah Daniel of Kennesaw; Kristy and Aaron Salley of Douglasville; Kimberly Daniel of Douglasville; grandchildren: Abigail Daniel, Perrin Salley, Ethan Daniel, Leighann Daniel, Emily Daniel, Nathan Salley, Olivia Daniel, Autumn Daniel, Henry Daniel, Emma Daniel, Audrey Daniel and Ava Daniel; and sister Stephanie Blumer Bray and Don Bray of Augusta, Ga. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, Nov.

24, 2018, from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the Rosehaven Chapel with the Rev. Brett DeHart officiating.

Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Perrin Salley, Ethan Daniel, Nathan Salley, Mike Shirley, Tyler Shirley and Andy Daniel. Henry Daniel will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
