Obituary for Jo Ann Dove Jo Ann Dove, 82, of Traverse City stepped into the presence of her Heavenly Father Monday, July 23, 2018 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Jo Ann was born on Thursday, July 16, 1936 to the late Melvin and Helen (Gaye) Hill in South Charleston, WV. Following her high school graduation, she continued her education at Piedmont Bible College and Appalachian Bible College, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in education.

For a few years, she taught second grade following her graduation. On Saturday, June 4, 1960, she married Donald Wayne Dove in South Charleston, WV. Together they raised their two children, Phillip and Elizabeth.

A resident of Traverse City since 2003, Jo Ann and her husband had previously been church planting missionaries with Continental Baptist Missions. They began churches in Port Washington, Wisconsin, Murrysville, PA, Hamlin, NY and Hallam, PA. Jo Ann enjoyed reading, music and playing the piano.

Jo Ann was an active member of Heritage Baptist Church and Missionary Emeritus with Continental Baptist Missions. Jo Ann is survived by her children, Phillip W. Dove of Spring Hill, TN; Elizabeth “Beth” (Daniel) Wasson of Traverse City; her grandchildren, Kenneth Dove, Danielle Dove, Marcus Wasson and Shelby Wasson and a great grandson, Clay Matthew Dove. Also surviving is her sister in law Sylvia (Leslie) Dove -Scott of Lynchburg, VA and a niece and nephew Van T. Scott and Jill Scott-Davis.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a brother, Roger Hill. Visitation for friends and family will be held from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Friday, July 27 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral home, with the service celebrating her life beginning at 3:30 p.m., also at the funeral home. Pastor Rob Kinney will officiate.
