Jo-Ann E. Smith of Gumboro, DE passed away unexpectedly as a result of a car accident on Wednesday, March 20, 2019. She was 80 years old. Mrs. Smith was born on July 17, 1938 in Seaford, DE.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wayne Smith in 2004 and a brother, Jack Bennett. She worked for NCR as a machine inspector and later was a poultry grower for many years. She enjoyed driving, travelling, crochet, holding yard sales, and spending time with her family which included her “favorite daughter Peaches her Maltipoo”.

In the mornings she could be found at the Millsboro McDonald’s where she and her friends would gather. She will be remembered as a wonderful, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She is survived by three daughters, Tamara Carey (Roy) of Gumboro, DE; Robin Tharp (Buddy) of Laurel, DE and Susan McCumbee (Kenny) of Dagsboro, DE.

She is also survived by six grandchildren: Dawn Roach (Jack), David Carey (Natasha), Joshua Messick, Ryan Messick, Teressa Davidson (Brian) and Corey Jones (Sarah). She also leaves to cherish her memory five great grandchildren: Brynn, Regan, Braven, Braxstyn and Rhett. She is also survived by extended family and friends.

A funeral service and celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call from 11 AM – 1 PM for viewing and visitation. Burial will follow at Line Church Cemetery. Flowers are welcome or donations in Jo-Ann’s memory can be made to the Brandywine Valley SPCA, 22918 DuPont Blvd, Georgetown, DE 19947.
