Jo M. Morelock, age 75 of Sidney, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at Ohio Living Dorothy Love. She was born April 29, 1943 in Shelby County, Ohio to father Melvin Slonkosky and mother Margaret (Middleton) Slonkosky who preceded her in death. She was married December 24, 1992 and preceded in death by Richard M. Morelock in 2012.

She is survived by children, David (Sue) Slagle of Sidney, Angela Slagle of Sidney, Pam (Rick) Gambill of Sidney, Penny (Mike) Guenther of Dayton, Patti (Rick) Russwurm of Vandalia, MI; grandchildren Jessica Slagle, Jonathon Slagle, Olivia Slagle, Amy (Eric) Jones, Dana (Andrew) Haisley, David (Christina) Hughes, Erikka (Ryan) Perkins, Carrie (Eric) Middelweerd, Joshua Gambill, Adam Vestal, Kelly (Jerrod) Howard, Lori (Dan) Boecher; in-laws June (the late Beryl) Lantz, Roy (Carol) Morelock of Sidney, Joe (Sharon) Morelock of Piqua, long time special friend Barb Hughes, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by in-laws Bob (Betty) Young, and Bob (Mary) King. Jo loved to sing, drawing flowers, and was a devout Christian lady.

She was a director/member of Sweet Adelines for 26 years, and a member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Ohio Coalition for the Homeless, Shelby County Fair Housing Board, Shelby County Human Services Advisory Board, and Shelby County WIC Advisory Board. She graduated from Fairlawn and Miami Jacobs Business College in 1961 and Edison State Community College as a Psychology Major in 1979.

Jo spent most of her working life helping those in need. Her compassion for people and outgoing personality were the perfect mix for making an impact on other lives. People were drawn to her willingness to help, and sense of humor.

She worked for Tri-County Community Action 4 years where she helped the low-income, elderly, and disabled. She had over 20 years of dedicated service working at Shelby County Job and Family Services. She assisted victims of domestic violence, was an advocate for those with disabilities, and helped people obtain gainful employment.

She always had a strong sense of dedication and enthusiasm for changing the lives of those less fortunate. No matter what her specific job duties were at JFS, her first consideration was always to serve the people of Shelby County. She brought an energetic, cheerful, and positive disposition into the department and was greatly missed after her retirement in 2009.

Family and friends may call Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Adams Funeral Home in Sidney. Visitation will also be Friday, October 5, 2018 from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM with services to follow at 10:00 AM at Adams Funeral Home with Pastor John Young officiating. Interment will be at Beechwood Cemetery.
