Obituary for Joachim Alfons Faltiss Joachim (Joe) Faltiss was born on June 14, 1939 in Gleiwitz, Germany. His father was killed in Russia in WW II. He was about 4 years old when he, with his mother aunt and four young cousins walked to the West, where he grew up in Bremen, Germany.

At the age of 19, he arrived in New Orleans by ship looking for adventure. He took an all night train with one suitcase to Dallas to work in the cotton business. He worked at H. Molsen & Co., Inc. and Paul Reinhart, Inc. until his retirement.

He became a U.S.citizen in 2006. Joe always kept up with long-time friends and would tell good stories. Many stories were about his adventures in small Texas and Louisiana towns, Mexico, Nicaragua, Brazil and Germany.

Geography and historical events were of great interest, as well as Texas BBQ, soccer, American football and opera. He loved to meet and sing with his friends on Friday nights at Henk’s in Dallas. We would like to thank our families and friends for the support and love they showed us in the last year and a half.

Also the nurses and aides from Faith Presbyterian Hospice (Aurora, Monica and Susy) for their kindness and care for him. Joe is survived by Judy, his wife of 49 years, daughter Monika, son Michael and wife Alexandra, all living in Dallas. Brothers, sister and spouses Terry and Joan Sinclair from Washington, Burt and Linda Grimes, Patrick and Kate Grimes and favorite aunt Jeanette Steward from California, cousins Joerg and Sigi Kreidenweiss and Uwe Goebel from Germany.
