Joan A. (Maloney) Kirsch, 89, of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Syracuse Jan 16, 1930 and was employed as a telephone operator with NY Telephone before her marriage, where she made many lifelong friends, 12 of whom were lovingly known as “The Club Ladies”. She was a communicant of St. Matthew’s Church where she was a lifelong volunteer, serving into her 80’s in the church’s Food Pantry and Second Time Around store.

She was a room mother for all of her children’s school classes, a Mother’s Club officer, a Guild officer and chairwoman of the Antique Show committee. She loved and played Bunco for many years and never got tired of going out to the casino. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Kirsch in 2011.

She is survived by her beloved twin sister, Maryknoll Missionary, Sr. Jean Maloney of Seoul, SK. Sr Jean was able to return stateside in December and remained with Joan to assist with her care. Joan’s loving children, sons, Michael (Theresa) of Chittenango, Thomas (Amy) of E. Syracuse and Martin of Syracuse; daughters, Kathleen (Thomas) Polera of Northville.

MI, Elizabeth (Gregory) Regulbuto of Canastota and Jean (Mark) Getsy of N. Syracuse; her beloved grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Quita”, or “KiKi” Jennifer (Matt) Manwarren, Susan Regulbuto, Katelyn (Scott) Miller, Meghan (Trevor) Zinn, Christina Kirsch, Andrew Kirsch, Sarah (Josh) Bunce and Michael Getsy; her great grandchildren, Sydney, Madeline, Christina, Steven, Bailey and Sarah; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Monday from 9-11am in St. Matthew’s Church with a funeral mass to follow at 11am. Burial in White Chapel Memory Gardens.

Dewitt. Everyone is invited to the Community Room at St. Matthew’s School following the cemetery services for lunch and fellowship. Donations in Joan’s name can be made to St. Matthew’s Church Food Pantry or the Church fund, 229 W. Yates St., E. Syracuse, NY 13057 or Hospice of Central New York, 990 7th North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
