Obituary for Mrs. Joan Annette Karsen Joan Annette Karsen, 88, of Port Huron, passed away on January 7, 2019 in her home unexpectedly. She was born on May 4, 1930 in Battle Creek, daughter of the late Simon and Ruth Ziolkowski. Joan married Douglas Edward Karsen on December 27, 1952 in Battle Creek.

He passed away November 10, 2012. She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and was always willing to help whenever she could. Joan was a school teacher for over 45 years and loved helping the children.

Joan is survived by her son, Michael Douglas Karsen and his companion, Jean of Lawton, Michigan; daughter, Julia Lynn Pincek of St. Joseph, Michigan; daughter, Mary Katherine Karsen of Bridgman, Michigan and son and daughter-in-law, John Edward (Donna) Karsen of Port Huron; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two sisters. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Pincek. A memorial service will be at a later date.

Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are in care of Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. , Port Huron.
