Obituary for Joan J. Gallegos 1947-2018 Joan J. Gallegos, age 70, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2018. Joan was born to Moises and Mela Gonzales Barela in Clovis, NM. She was married to Thomas J. Gallegos on April 16, 1966 in Clovis, NM, and they made their home in Belen, NM in 2005.

Joan was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Belen Parish in Belen, NM. She was a good wife, mother and a friend to all she met. Joan loved dancing, singing, reading, cooking, camping and especially spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by both parents, Moises G. and Mela G. Barela and one brother, Luis Barela. Joan is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Gallegos, two sons; Luis A. Barela of Clovis, NM, Jimmy L. Barela of Albuquerque, one grandson, Abbery S. Barela of Veguita, NM, two brothers; James Barela (Esther) of Santa Rosa, NM, Gilbert Barela of Clovis, NM, three sisters; Alba Lopez (Orlando) of Clovis, NM, Barbara Flores (Arturo), of Hereford, TX, Connie Rios (Adam) of Lubbuck Texas, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. No services are scheduled at this time.
