Obituary for Joan Rider-Smith Joan Rider-Smith, age 92, of Howell, Michigan, formerly of Romulus, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018. Joan was born September 12, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late William Rider and Dorothy (Gaunt) Rider.

Joan enjoyed gardening. She was also a member of the First Assembly of God in Indiana, where she participated in the praying grandma’s and grandpa’s program. To cherish her memory she leaves six children; Rev.

Lester (Linda) Smith, Gary Smith, Barbara Schultz, Sandra (Steve) Rider, Karen (Ken) Ciszewski, and Diane (Joe) Timlick, 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; William and Dorothy Rider, one son; Lee Robert, five siblings; Gene (Bud) Rider, William Rider, Thomas Rider, Barbara Wudarski and Diane Rider. Friends may gather from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on, Thursday, April 19, 2018, at the 5 Points Church, formerly Romulus Wesleyan Church, located at 37300 Goddard Rd, Romulus, MI 48174.

The funeral service will take place at 5 Points Church on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 12:00pm, with Jim Bowen officiating. Interment will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at IOOF Memorial Gardens in Lafayette, Indiana. Online guests may leave condolences, share a photo, or light a memorial candle by visiting www.
