Joan M. (Zagropski) Thomas, 78, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Monday at home. Born on January 27, 1941, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mariam (Bubrick) Zagropski. Joan enjoyed doing ceramics and was the “Pot-Stirrer” of the family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew J. Thomas, Sr. who passed in 1994 and her infant son, Matthew J. Thomas, Jr. Surviving are her loving daughters, Kim Hummel, Wilkes-Barre and Mariam Iorio, Scranton, 2 grandchildren, Frank Hummel and Amanda Iorio, 3 great-grandchildren, Elliea Hummel, Matthew Iorio and Lacey Iorio, four sisters, Suzette Meade, Wilkes-Barre, Penelope Cooper, Texas, Judith Toole, Pittston, Patricia Rutkowski, Milford, MA, two brothers, Fred Zagropski, Wilkes-Barre, and Donald Zagropski, Dupont, several nieces and nephews. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Services were entrusted to Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Wilkes-Barre.
