Joe Arthur James July 28, 1947 – January 30, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Joe Arthur James, 71, the son of the late James Glisson and Mary Louise James Davis, was born on July 28, 1947 in Sumter, SC. Joe was also raised by James Williams, currently, of Queens, NY. He departed this life on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 around 2:30pm at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC.

Joe attended the public schools of Sumter, SC. During his life, Joe was employed by a shoe shop in New York and later by Campbell Soup in Sumter, SC for over 20yrs; and ended his work history at Tuomey Hospital before retiring. He had a very outgoing personality and enjoyed sports throughout his entire life, especially golf and football.

Joe leaves to cherish his precious memories to his siblings: Sharon James (Darren) Johnston, Troy (Jameela) James, and Donald (Lisa) James; his grandchildren: Kiara Boler, Sevetrice Boler, Taliana Boler, Nasiah Boler, Elijah Boler, and Destiny Ragin; his aunt, Geneva Fields of New York; extended family, Thomasina and Thomas Allen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a son, Elliott W. Boler. Public Viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 from 2-6pm at Job’s Mortuary.

Mr. James will be placed in the church on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 12pm for viewing until the hour of service. Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center 101 S. Salem Avenue Sumter, SC 29150, with Rev. Dr. Vernon Holland Offficiating.

Family will receive friends at the home, 1199 N Lafayette Drive Apt-100 Sumter, SC 29150.
