He was born November 2, 1936 in Richmond, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents Basilio and Maria Cortez; his brothers Ernest and Wiillie Cortez; his sisters Delfina C. Guerrero, Elena C. Vasquez and Benita C. Jasso.

He is survived by his sisters Emelia C. Chavez and Lupita Cortez; along with a host of nephews and nieces as well as other loving family members and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday March 2, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Hernandez Funeral Home 800 Fourth Street in Rosenberg.
