Joe Billy Carver died February 18, 2019 at the age of 87. He was born on February 12, 1932 in Foreman, Arkansas. His parents were John Thomas Carver and Sara Arabella Carver.

He grew up on the family farm in Foreman and graduated from Foreman High School in 1950. During the Korean conflict he served in the US Army as a welder and was responsible for helping to build bridges. He and his wife, Anne celebrated 52 years of marriage last December.

Together they enjoyed many travel experiences. They also took great pleasure in entertaining friends. For many years he hosted fish fries for both her garden club and their church and quite often provided the fish from his own skill at catching them.

He spent a great deal of his spare time on the lake bank or in his boat working to catch “the big one”. Joe grew up on a farm and knew about hard work and love of the land. He and his siblings have many tales to tell of life on the farm and the love they shared of that place.

He loved gardening and took pride in his beautiful flowers and abundant vegetables. He had an amazing green thumb and could make almost anything grow just by sticking it into the ground. Joe spent many years behind the wheel of a Greyhound Bus and retired after more than 45 years of “Leaving the Driving to Us”.

Joe is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Anne, and his four daughters, Jerri Jo Center of Sherman, TX, Carol Ann (Blake) Lindsey of Cumming, GA, Lisa Anne (Bobby) Towery of Oxford, MS and Catherine Rose Galtelli of Southaven, MS. He leaves 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Joe had three brothers, all of whom are deceased (Tommy, Howard, and Jimmy), and three sisters (Johnnie, also deceased, Jean and Jane.

) Joe was a gentle man, loved his church and his family. He was known for his sweet smile and his easy manner. He will be missed by many.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. Friday, February 22 until service begins at 11 a.m. at Desoto Hills Baptist Church, 4680 Getwell, Southaven, Mississippi, 38671.
