Obituary for Joel Martin Urbas Joel Martin Urbas, age 25, was born on August 4, 1993 to Joseph and Cynthia Urbas and was an eagerly awaited blessing. He went to be with the Lord on December 1, 2018. Joel was always an amazing young man.
He graduated from high school in 2011 and continued his education at Toledo University. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He accepted a position at K2M, in Virginia, where he worked to develop medical surgical orthopedic devices.
Joel was always searching for ways to make this world a better place. Joel, a true Wolverine fan, recently moved to Ann Arbor after accepting a position with the Terumo Cardiovascular Group. He always endeavored to gain knowledge and achieve perfection and was working toward a Master’s Degree at the University of Michigan.
Joel loved his parents and his extended family. He enjoyed camping at Sandy Pines, being in the outdoors, wrestling, soccer, riding his motorcycle, Tough Mudder races, running and physical training. He was always looking for new adventures and loved to travel.
His latest adventure took him to Uzbekistan. Joel love animals and was especially fond of his puppies; Hershey, Ruby, Phoebe, Mia, Jeff Gordon and Oscar. His parents, Joe and Cindy, were his greatest supporters, significantly influenced his life and it is no surprise that “the apple did not fall far from the tree”.
Joel had many skills, a thirst for knowledge and compassion for others. He enjoyed working with his hands making a new piece of furniture with his dad, cooking a delicious meal with his mom, building a model, restoring an old car or trying to create a life changing medical device. There is no denying that Joel is his parent’s son.
Joe is dearly loved and will always be remembered by his family including his parents Joe and Cindy. His grandparents: John and Barb McGraw, Ron Davis (D), Joe (D) and Frances (D) Urbas. His aunts and uncles: Jim and Terri Davis, Judy and Bob Lawson and Diana Urbas.
His cousins: Cody, Danna, Chris, Mikhail, Kelli, Matt, Melissa and Kyle. He will also be missed by his many friends and colleagues. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church celebrated by Rev.
Fr. Mathias Thelen at 10:30 A.M. Friends may visit beginning at 9:30 A.M. at the church. Please consider making a memorial contribution to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at www.
