He was born November 29, 1953 in Bloomsdale, Missouri to Vernon Grover “Red” Gowen Sr and Mae Louise Boyer Dickerson. Survivors include his mother, Mae Louise Dickerson of Sedgewickville; one daughter, Krystal Brooks of Perryville, Missouri; five sisters, Carol Lynn of Sedgewickville, Missouri, Patty Bohnert of Sedgewickville, Missouri, Rita Otte of Perryville, Missouri, Ella Dlugolenski of , Pennsylvania, Shirley Cook of Illinois; three brothers, Danny Gowen of Perryville, Missouri, Roger Gowen of Kansas, David Dickerson of Perryville, Missouri; and one grandchildren.
