Obituary for John A. Phaler John A. Phaler, a longtime resident of Blackwood, NJ went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 13th at the age of 80 years. Devoted husband of the late Betty Lynn Phaler (nee Calhoun) who predeceased him in 2015.

He is the beloved father of Jessica Ballinghoff (son-in-law Chris) of Erial, NJ, and of the late Scott Howard. He is the proud grandfather of Christopher, Cameron, Evan, and Chase. He was predeceased by his brother Fredrick Phaler (sister-in-law the late Judgie), and by his sister Olive Collins (brother-in-law Donald of Sewell, NJ).

John was a 1998 retiree of the U.S. Air Force, where he completed his career service at the rank of Senior Master SGT. He loved his family, and always made sure they were provided for. At a young age, John began a lifelong hobby of breeding and raising pigeons in his spare time.

He enjoyed eating out, making The Meadows Diner and Lamp Post Diner two of his favorite spots. He had a talent of assembling model airplanes, which he enjoyed as well. He was dearly loved and will be sadly missed.

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, Nov. 16th, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church St., Blackwood, NJ 08012, where military ceremonies and a prayer service will begin at 8:00 PM. Condolences may be shared at www.
