John W. Allison, 82, of Olney, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. John was born on December 6, 1936 in Richland County, IL, the son of William J. and Harriette Ellen (Trigg) Allison. He married Linda (Lindsey) on August 25, 1956 in Shawneetown, IL and she survives him.

John was a loving father and husband. He enjoyed woodworking and took pleasure in helping his son, Steve, on his farm. John especially enjoyed his grandchildren.

He worked at AMF/Roadmaster for 17 years and then went to work at Prairie Farms and worked there for 21 years. John was a member of the Methodist Church. John is survived by his wife, of 62 years, Linda Allison of Olney; Son, Steve Allison and wife JoAnn of Olney; Son, John David and wife Cheryl of Olney; Daughter, Lisa (Marshall Fryman) Barber of West Salem; Grandchildren, Matt Allison, Jamie Allison, Heather (Clifton) Tewell, and Elizabeth (fiancé Josh Patterson) Barber, Matt Barber, Chris (Amanda) Cooper, and C.J. Cooper; Great grandchildren, Bryce Conner, Teagan Allison, Jasmine Allison, Gavin Stevens, Vale Tewell, Cohen Cooper, Mia Cooper, and Haidyn Cooper; Sister, Ruth (Sam) Kessler; Sister, Deanna Allison; and nieces and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Zelma Derler. Memorials can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney with burial following in Oak Hill Cemetery.
