Obituary for John “Bill” Garner John William “Bill” Garner, 86, passed away at Davis Hospice in Cheyenne on September 8, 2018. Born in Lander, Wyoming on April 13, 1932 to Harry and Nancy Garner. He graduated from Fremont County Vocational High School and was a member of the 1950 State Champion Football Team.

While attending Casper College, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He married Nancy Mohr and they settled in Cheyenne 60 years ago. Bill had a proud career at Mountain Bell.

He was active in the community, volunteering for Cheyenne Frontier Days, where he became chairman of the Concessions Committee and a member of Heels. In 1977, he was installed as a Master Mason at Capital Lodge 54. He belonged to the Elks Club and Kiwanis, and served as a Fire Commissioner.

Bill was a devoted fan of the Wyoming Cowboys and a member and president of the Quarterback Club. He was a strong supporter of the Cowboy Joe Club and a lifelong Dodger fan, following them from New York to LA. He also loved the Denver Broncos.

Bill loved hunting and fishing. He was a good golfer and shot a hole-in-one twice at the Airport Golf Club. He knew people all over the state and ran into someone he knew in most other states he visited.

Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy and three children, Teri (Clem Igel) of St. Louis, Linda (Pete Gullicks) of Cheyenne, and Mike (Lisa) of Afton. He adored his five grandchildren: Erin, Anna, Haley, Julia and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Punk and daughter, Debbie Garner.
