OBITUARY John Christopher “Chris” Hildebrand III March 28, 1945 – December 20, 2018 HILDEBRAND, John C., III, “Chris”, age 73, of Richmond passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018. . He was born to John C. Jr. and Florence Hildebrand on March 28, 1945 in Richmond, Va.
A graduate of Douglas Freeman High School, Chris attended Virginia Tech and graduated from RPI with a degree in mechanical engineering. He dedicated his entire working life to Catlett-Johnson Corp. , retiring as President in 2000.
Chris was a member of many professional associations, including ASHRAE, serving as President for 2 years; AGC; ASPE; ASA; and a Board Member for the Luther Memorial School. Chris enjoyed golf, cheering on his beloved Hokies and even the Redskins. He was particularly proud of his hole-in-one, chalking it up to luck rather than talent.
Chris is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn C. Hildebrand; son, Jeffrey; daughter, Joanna; grandchildren, Noah and Brendan; brother, James (Lynne); nephews, Matthew (Jerri) and Benjamin (Bonnie) Hildebrand; and niece, Ashley Jones. He is also survived by many cousins, golfing buddies and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 3 to 5 pm at Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel, 1771 N. Parham Rd.
, Richmond, Va. 23229. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2315 N. Parham Rd, Henrico, Va.
23229, with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at Westhampton Memorial Park on Monday at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or your favorite charity.
