John Edward Laufersky, age 83, of Grand Haven passed away Monday, January 28, 2019, at Mercy Hospital. He was born November 21, 1935, in Coopersville, to Erwin John and Sophia Agnes (Kozak) Laufersky, and married Phyllis Mae Comstock on January 11, 1980, in Florida. John served his country in the Army National Guard.

He owned and operated J & L Trucking for many years, and was a member of St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church. John loved working on old cars and going for ice cream in his 1966 Ford Thunderbird on Sundays, boating on the Grand River on his 1957 Chris-Craft “So-be-it”, and was a very skilled carpenter, having built a couple of homes and garages. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Phyllis Laufersky of Grand Haven; two daughters; two sons; two step-daughters, Bonita (Glenn) Clark and Monica Clark; step-son, Larry (Jeana) Clark; his sister, MaryAnne (Ron) Barnes; numerous grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Helen Laufersky, Eleanor (Eryne) Clark, Jan (Larry) Velvick, Shirley Cunningham, Ruth Skuse, Leota Skuse, Helen Lopez, Marilyn (Brad) Zylman; brothers-in-law, Thomas (Sue) Comstock, Lester (Linda) Comstock, Jerry (Kathy) Comstock, Milton “Butch” (Roxanne) Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Laufersky; step-son, Buddy Clark, Jr.; sister-in-law, Marjorie Comstock; and two brothers-in-law, Mervin and Larry Comstock. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at St. Patrick – St. Antony Catholic Church. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post # 28 Honor Guard.
